Moondance offers free fee for films from banned countries

The 18th edition of the Moondance International Film Festival has offered free entry fees for productions from 7 banned countries, including Iran.

The festival’s founder Elizabeth English recently announced that the 2017 edition of the Moondance International Film Festival is now offering free competition submissions for filmmakers, writers and music composers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

Immigrant and refugee artists and others from the mentioned countries have been banned from entering the US after Donald Trump’s executive order in January.

Founded by Elizabeth English in 1999 as a complimentary contrast to the Sundance Film Festival, The Moondance International Film Festival is an independent annual film festival and awards competition in the US.

Three Iranian films including ‘The Sea and the Flying Fish’ directed by Mehrdad Ghaffarzadeh, and ‘Atlan’ directed by Moein Karimoddini took part at the previous edition of the event where ‘Atlan’ managed to bring home top prizes of the festival.

Accept submissions through June 30, 2017, the enthusiasts can participate in various genres including narrative feature, short, documentary, drone & animation films, feature & short screenplays, and film scores among the others.
